"PHILPA - 8th Concours d'Elegance 2011”
On Sunday, October 23, 2011 over 100 competing classic and veteran cars gathered at Zea Marina for the "pageant" event of PHILPA (The Antique Car Club of Greece), in collaboration with the "Association for the Conservation of Historic Vehicles of Greece” and the “Greek Friends of Classic Motorcycles Club", entitled "PHILPA - 8th Concours d'Elegance 2011”.
A total of 90 classic cars, 10 military vehicles and 30 motorcycles participated. In the Concours d’Elegance only vehicles which are in excellent condition and as close as possible to the condition they had when they came out of the factory construction are accepted, in line with FIVA’s rules. Condition, originality, elegance, rarity, quality of restoration, are some of the elements for which they are judged by an expert Jury.
Their proud owners displayed the old cars and motorcycles to the public and the judges and showed their great "love" and the work which each one has done in order to bring the vehicles in such admirable condition.
With the prevailing warm sunny weather assisting, many visitors were able to see up close every day cars of past eras, military examples and motorcycles that once circulated in the streets of Greece, but not only, since there were several sport cars of the decade of the 50's with registered victories in historic races in Europe and the USA.
The awards ceremony took place on the hospitable grounds of the Pisina Café while PHILPA had added “its good cause” by donating part of the fees to the NGO "The Smile of a Child" which the Club’s members and the public helped with their additional support.
The results regarding the best three selected by the Judges vehicles were:
a) FIAT ABARTH ZAGATO 750 of 1958 (Best of Show)
b) BANDINI SPORT SILURO of 1955
c) FORD GRANADA GHIA of 1982
With the support of MARINA ZEA SA, the Pisina Café and AutoGlym Hellas, a very successful event was held, organized by PHILPA for the eighth consecutive year; every year the Organizing Committee raises the bar of excellence for such an event in Greece.
It was the first time for me to connect with PHILPA club
& only nice memories brings me back!
